Cohen & Company is seeking an Assurance Partner with a focus in Private Funds, an entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to client service to join our team!  

 

Cohen’s Private Funds practice consists of a suite of offerings, primarily focused on assurance, tax, and advisory services to private funds and their advisers. For the assurance practice, examples of such services are audits of private funds (including hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds, digital asset funds, and other alternative investment strategies), as well as consultations on regulations, accounting positions, offshore jurisdictions, structuring and other ad-hoc matters.  Value is typically driven through a model of high-touch and proactive client service and is supported by a strong compliance, operational, and technology infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Business Development/Market Leader:

  • Responsible for strategy and growth of the firm’s services to Private Funds, including identifying market trends, leading opportunities, and developing go-to-market strategies/plans
  • Bridge go-to-market pursuits to internal business planning, including training focus, leadership pipeline, risk, and quality considerations, hiring and resource utilization, and margin management
  • Build strong relationships and interact regularly with clients, internal client partners and up-and-coming talent, external industry groups, Centers of Influence, industry Market Leaders in adjacent sectors, and Service Line Leaders – coordinating to align skills with market trends and drive strategic technical leadership hires
  • Establish sales and revenue goals, and actively manage a strategic business plan and opportunity pipeline that ensures these goals are met; actively analyze and monitor pricing strategies for opportunities
  • Provide input on marketing, business development, BD expenditures, and priorities based on growth plans
  • Regularly communicate with the internal community to reinforce collaboration and team building, ensure client focus, demonstrate a commitment to excellence and innovation, and motivate others to engage
  • Actively monitor the health of opportunity pipeline (e.g., quality/quantity; near/long term, etc.)

 

Client Experience:

  • Technical excellence in audit and accounting matters for Private Funds
  • Actively client-facing; Serve and build relationships with clients and manage internal teams (inside and across service lines) to timely deliver quality work, open communication, sound advice, and proactive service
  • Develop/enhance a comprehensive audit approach to meet the needs of Private Funds clients
  • Adjust client pricing, strategy, and services as necessary
  • Evaluate engagement performance and metrics
  • Provide leadership to the annual client continuance process, focused on the client relationship and smooth transitions when required

 

Technical:

  • Perform partner level assurance reviews and signoff
  • Serve as a go-to resource for technical questions or knowledge
  • Act as a technical and/or business leader both internally and externally
  • Be a student of the Firm, drawing in technical expertise from across the Firm to support pursuits when needed

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree; CPA
  • 12+ years of progressive experience within assurance at a public accounting firm, including leadership experience with a consistent record of accomplishment, accountability, and history of execution against budget and strategic initiatives
  • 3+ years Partner level or equivalent experience
  • Proven thought leadership, advanced technical skills, in-depth knowledge, and a concentration in assurance services for investment partnerships
