Cohen & Company’s Advisory Services Division is passionate about helping owners, management teams and investors navigate business and transactional environments. Experienced Associate position would fall into our Accounting Advisory Solutions department within our Advisory Services division.  

We are very excited about our growth opportunities and are seeking an Experienced Associate with an entrepreneurial energy and commitment to client service to join our Accounting Advisory Solutions team.  

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting workpapers in accordance with US GAAP and other bases of accounting 
  • Comprehend financial statements and prepare draft financial information for review 
  • Conduct financial statement analysis and understand the finance and accounting functions generally performed by a business 
  • Prepare and/or review investor reporting packages and loan compliance packages 
  • Preparation and review of payables  
  • Perform monthly reconciliations to bank statements and other relevant source documents 
  • Monitor daily, weekly cash positions for various accounts and ensure adequate funding 
  • Monitor and record credit card and petty cash transactions 
  • Review expense classifications for reasonableness 
  • Reconcile and settle accounts between related client entities 
  • Develop relationships with clients, while becoming their main point of contact 
  • Work within a team to ensure client expectations are met 
  • Communicate exceptions to supervisors, managers, and department head as applicable 
  • Contribute to the growth of the department by participating in project work 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Accounting majors preferred  
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience 
  • Audit background preferred 
  • Actively pursuing completion of CPA licensing, strongly preferred 
  • A basic understanding of accounting and audit processes is required 
  • Experience with Family Offices, Real Estate or Private Equity/Investment funds is a plus  
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills 
  • Critical goal level thinking, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail required 
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills 
  • Experience with QuickbooksOnline, Sage Intacct, and Engagement software a plus 
  • Ability to stay organized and focused in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously and consistently producing accurate and “client-ready” work 
  • Absolute adherence to strict confidentiality and privacy considerations 

 

 Estimated Salary Range:  $60,000-85,000*
